Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
2. In a mixing bowl, melt the butter completely. Once melted, stir in the sugar until well combined.
3. Beat the eggs into the butter-sugar mixture, one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, and 1 tsp of vanilla. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until smooth and combined.
5. Pour the brownie batter into a greased baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center.
6. While the brownies are baking, prepare the milk tart topping: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk, condensed milk, and cornflour. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens, ensuring there are no lumps.
7. Remove the saucepan from heat and beat in the egg and 1 tsp of vanilla until fully integrated.
8. Once the brownies are out of the oven, pour the thickened milk tart custard over the warm brownie base. Spread it evenly.
9. Allow the bars to cool at room temperature, then place them in the refrigerator to set for at least 2 hours.
10. Once set, dust the top with a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired, and slice into bars ready to serve!
