Ingredients
→ Main Components
01 450 g ground beef
02 1 can (425 g) green beans, drained
03 1 can (300 g) cream of mushroom soup
04 120 ml whole milk
05 100 g shredded cheddar cheese
06 100 g French fried onions
→ Seasonings
07 1 teaspoon garlic powder
08 1 teaspoon onion powder
09 Salt, to taste
10 Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
Step 01
Set oven to 175°C and allow to fully preheat before assembling the casserole.
Step 02
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and break apart with a spatula. Sauté until thoroughly browned with no remaining pink, approximately 6–8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
Step 03
In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked beef, drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until mixture is uniform and evenly coated.
Step 04
Lightly grease a 23 x 33 cm baking dish. Distribute the beef and bean filling evenly in the dish, smoothing the surface. Top with shredded cheddar cheese in an even layer.
Step 05
Place dish in preheated oven. Bake for 25 minutes or until cheese is melted and the casserole is bubbling. Remove from oven, scatter French fried onions over the top, and return to oven for 5–10 minutes until onions are crisp and golden.
Step 06
Allow the casserole to rest for several minutes before portioning and serving to help it hold its shape.
Notes
- Drain excess fat from the beef thoroughly to avoid a greasy texture in the finished dish.
- Allowing the casserole to rest before serving ensures cleaner, more even portions.
