Grandma’s Old-Fashioned Sugar Cookies

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla, and almond extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, adding milk as needed to form a soft dough.
  6. Roll dough into 1-inch (2.5 cm) balls and coat lightly with extra sugar.
  7. Place cookies 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
