Chicken Cheese Garlic Bread Buns

Directions

Prepare the Dough

  1. In a large bowl, mix whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, warm milk, sugar, salt, softened butter, and yeast. Knead into a smooth, uniform dough.
  2. Cover and let the dough rest for about 90 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
  3. Divide the dough into 6 equal parts and let them rest for another 30 minutes.

Prepare the Filling

  1. Mix cream cheese with salt and sugar to taste. Set aside.

Assemble the Buns

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).
  2. Flatten each dough portion slightly, fill with cream cheese, and shape into buns.
  3. Place the buns on a baking tray and bake for 25 minutes.

Prepare Butter Mixture & Final Bake

  1. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, egg (or cornstarch mixture), milk, dried parsley, salt, pepper, and mayonnaise if using.
  2. Remove the baked buns from the oven and cut them open lightly. Fill with cooked chicken and top with grated cheddar cheese.
  3. Brush the buns with the prepared butter mixture.
  4. Increase oven temperature to 200°C (400°F) and bake for another 15 minutes until golden and cheese is melted.
