Cheesy Spaghetti Sloppy Joes

Step-by-Step Instructions

Brown the Beef and Onions:

Start by heating a large saute pan over medium high. Add lean ground beef and a dab of butter or margarine. As it cooks, break it apart and add your diced yellow onions. Stir occasionally and let it brown fully for eight to ten minutes until all beef is no longer pink and onions look translucent. This layering develops the base flavor.

Drain and Add Liquids:

Once cooked, carefully drain any grease from the pan so only the beef and onions remain. Now pour in two cups of water. The water will help the spaghetti cook right inside the pan which means less mess and more flavor.

Add Spaghetti Noodles:

Break spaghetti into pieces about two inches long and sprinkle them into the pan. Stir gently so the noodles are spread out and coated. Put a lid on the pan without lowering the heat.

Steam and Stir:

Let the noodles cook in this steam bath for four minutes. Then remove the lid and stir everything so no strands stick. This step ensures tender spaghetti every time.

Sauce It:

Pour your sweet basil marinara sauce into the skillet. Stir until every noodle and piece of beef is bathed in sauce and there are no dry spots.

Season the Mix:

Add in salt pepper onion powder and garlic powder. Stir again to incorporate. Drop the heat to low so your filling stays hot but does not scorch the sauce.

Toast Buns:

Lay the hamburger buns in a single layer on a baking sheet. Slather garlic margarine across each cut side. Bake at four hundred degrees until edges start turning golden and you can smell the garlic about four to six minutes.

Add Cheese:

With heat on low add the shredded mozzarella right to your spaghetti mixture. Stir and fold until the cheese melts smoothly and clings to everything.

Build and Serve:

Spoon generous scoops of cheesy spaghetti mix onto toasted buns and enjoy immediately while gooey and warm.
