Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 1/4 cups warm water (about 110°F/45°C)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Topping:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions:
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and olive oil, stirring until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
- Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a rope about 8 inches long and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each breadstick.
- In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter and minced garlic. Brush the garlic butter mixture over the top of each breadstick.
- Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the breadsticks, followed by the shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Sprinkle the dried oregano and parsley over the cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let the breadsticks cool slightly before serving.
