Instructions
- Prepare the Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. - Mix the Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter until smooth. - Make the Batter
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Fold in the diced apples so they are evenly distributed throughout the batter. - Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or heavy pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). The oil should be deep enough for the fritters to float. - Fry the Fritters
Using a spoon or small scoop, carefully drop portions of batter into the hot oil. Fry 2–3 fritters at a time to avoid overcrowding. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crisp. - Drain the Fritters
Remove the fritters with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. - Prepare the Glaze
In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and pourable. - Glaze the Fritters
Drizzle the glaze over the warm fritters or lightly dip the tops into the glaze. - Serve Warm
Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes, then serve while the fritters are still warm and fragrant.
