Part 1: Discovering the Betrayal
The house smelled of gardenia flowers and luxury. It was a soft scent, but also heavy, as if it were hiding something behind its beauty. That night was supposed to be a special evening. It was our third wedding anniversary. Three years of marriage and five years of love… at least, that’s what I thought.
I came home earlier from the charity event at the hotel because I had forgotten the emerald bracelet Ethan gave me on our wedding day. I wanted to wear it during the toast to show him that I still cherished that symbol of our love.
When I opened the door of our large house, I heard a strange sound. It wasn’t the usual silence of the house. It was a sound… quick breathing, mixed with a woman’s laughter.
A laugh that was not mine.
My heart began to beat hard. My heels clicked on the marble floor as I walked down the dark hallway. Then I saw something on the floor: a red lace bra, then a black silk dress.
I recognized them immediately.
They belonged to Khloe Vance.
Khloe wasn’t just a friend. She had been my best friend since college. She was even my maid of honor at my wedding. The woman who always told me she dreamed of finding a man like my husband.
When I opened the door to my bedroom, the scene in front of me shattered my world.
Ethan, my husband, was in my bed with Khloe.
For a few seconds, I couldn’t breathe. Ethan said my name, surprised.
But anger took over.
I walked closer and slapped Khloe with all my strength. The sound echoed in the room. She screamed and Ethan jumped up suddenly.
In his eyes, I didn’t see shame.
Only anger.
He grabbed me violently and pushed me. I crashed against the dresser. Pain shot through my back.
I shouted that they were disgusting. But he lost his patience. He grabbed me by the hair and dragged me toward the stairs as if I were nothing.
Then he pushed me.
I remember the first step… the second… then I fell. My body rolled down the stairs and a terrible pain shot through my leg.
It was broken.
Instead of helping me, Ethan looked at me coldly.
Then he dragged me to the basement and locked me inside.
