Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 100 g (7 tablespoons) butter
  • 500 g (4 cups) all-purpose flour (0000 or fine flour)
  • 60 g (1/4 cup) sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 150 ml (2/3 cup) milk, warm
  • Vanilla essence, a few drops
  • 20 g (2 tablespoons) yeast
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Zest of 1 lemon

For the custard cream:

  • 250 ml (1 cup) milk
  • 60 g (1/4 cup) sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 15 g (1 tablespoon) cornstarch
  • Vanilla essence, a few drops

For assembling:

  • Dulce de leche
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • 1 beaten egg (for brushing before baking or frying)
